چکیده

In this paper, we derive a model for the two-phase freezing process of supercooled uids. Especially, we take density changes along the phase interfaces into account. Thus, besides heat diiusion and the interface phenomena, mass transport and convection in the uid phase which is given by the full Navier{Stokes equations has to be considered. For the 2D case we implemented an algorithm for the numerical solution of the mathematical model using uniform volume cells for a nite diierence discretization. Additionally, the phase boundaries are captured by a surface tracking method. We report on the mathematical model and its derivation, describe the numerical algorithm and present numerical experiments.

Simulation of River Morphological Changes under Voshmgir Dam Removal Condition- Gorganrud River

Dam removal is one of the methods of restoring the river ecosystem. In the present study, the removal of the Voshmgir Dam on the Gorganrud River, Iran, was considered, because of the high volume of sediment deposition in the reservoir and the loss of its useful life. Three scenarios were selected for the removal of the dam: 1- complete removal; 2- stepped removal of the spillway; and 3- removal...

Mathematical Modeling of Gas Adsorption Processes in Packed Bed: The Role of Numerical Methods on Computation Time

Rigorous mathematical modeling of adsorption processes in packed beds involves time-consuming computations which are considered as the fundamental weakness of such thorough mathematical models. Thus, reducing the computation time was a key factor in improving adsorption mathematical models. In order to achieve this goal, an attempt was made to know how much using different numerical methods inf...

Mathematical modeling of blood flow in a stenosed artery under MHD effect through porous medium

In this investigation, a mathematical model for studying oscillatory flow of blood in a stenosed artery under the influence of transverse magnetic field through porous medium has been developed. The equations of motion of blood flow are solved analytically. The analytical expressions for axial velocity, volumetric flow rate, pressure gradient, resistance to blood flow and shear stress have been...

Computer Simulation of Equidxed Eutectic Solidifiction of Metals

In the present work, the solidification process was simulated in both macroscopic and microscopic scales. Two-dimensional heat transfer equation for conduction was applied for macroscopic modeling using enthalpy formulation and finite element method. In order to decrease execution time and/or memory capacity in finite analysis, skyline mathematical technique was adapted. The microenthalpy metho...
